Walt Disney Autograph Signed During the Filming of "Pollyanna"

It's always more interesting to know the history behind and autograph.  The original recipient of this autograph wrote a letter about the history:

"In 1959 I lived in Santa Rosa, CA, a northern California town situated just west of the Napa-Sonoma wine-growing region. The entire town was abuzz that year because Walt Disney and his crew would be in town for a few weeks filming the movie "Pollyanna,* which would star Hayley Mills, Jane Wyman, Richard Egan and others.

The cast and crew stayed at the Flamingo Hotel, the fanciest hotel in town of the time, and it was also in close proximity to the MacDonald Mansion, where all the movies exteriors were to be filmed. Both of my parents worked at the hotel: my father played at the piano bar and in the dance bond, and my mother was the hostess for the dining room. My mother mentioned that Mr. Disney and the others were having lunch one day while I was there and suggested that I might want to get some autographs from the movie stars. At twelve years old, I wasn't the slightest bit interested in Richard Egan or Jane Wyman or even Hayley Mills, for that matter. But there at the first table sat Walt Disney, who introduced my very favorite TV show every Sunday night, and his was the only autograph I wanted.

He was very patient and cordial, and even apologized for getting his buttery fingerprint on the card. He seemed a much smaller person than he did on TV, and seemed a little ill at ease about being asked for an autograph.  But he was genuinely kind about the whole thing. Quite a thrilling day for me, to be sure!"
