Walt Disney Signed "FANTASIA" Letter
Triple-Authenticated!

Just a month after returning from his fabled goodwill tour of South America, Walt Disney corresponds with one of his Chilean hosts.  Using colorful and rare FANTASIA letterhead, Walt writes: "All of us had a wonderful time in Chile... I don't know why we were in such a hurry to leave, but the truth of the matter is Mrs. Disney was missing the children so much we just had to get home to them."

Usually Walt wrote almost all his correspondence on his unadorned "Walt Disney" stationery.  It's very rare to encounter a letter from Walt Disney on this spectacular FANTASIA letterhead.  FANTASIA was a motion picture milestone.  The day after the première the NEW YORK TIMES said "Motion history was made last night...Fantasia dumps conventional formulas overboard and reveals the scope of films for imaginative excursion...Fantasia...is simply terrific."

At the behest of the U.S. government, Walt Disney and an entourage totaling 18 spent almost three months of 1941 on a "Good Will Tour of South America."  Walt personally spent about 7 weeks in South America.  In addition firming up the North America-South America alliance during WWII, ideas for the production of the two Disney classics, "Saludos Amigos" and "The Three Caballeros" resulted from this trip.

Walt Disney has signed with an extremely dark, bold, fountain pen autograph.   Walt's autograph changed over the years, and it is a signature from this period that the Disney Company used as the logo for the Walt Disney Classics Collection (show at the right).

The letter came to us already including two Certificates of Authenticity, and of course it includes the Phil Sears Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity (sample shown below), so this rare item now includes THREE authenticity certifications!

This letter, from the desk of Walt Disney, signed in his historic office, contains several folds in each direction; file holes along left edge along with paper loss in the left margin, only affecting about 1/4" left edge (see photo).  Letter measures approximately 11" x 8.5".  Includes an 8" x 10" photograph of Walt Disney suitable for framing, shown above.  Item # 2450, About $Month on Lay-Away!*
