Walt Disney Autographed Disney Studio Retirement Gift

A giant Disney Studio retirement "card" signed by Walt Disney and approximately 100 Disney employees.  This giant piece is a high quality print of Mickey Mouse, created at the Disney Studio and surrounded by a crème-colored mat.  Walt Disney has personally autographed the mat above Mickey Mouse, and approximately 100 other Disney employees have also signed.  From the few we've tracked down, they are apparently construction and craftsmen involved in the Disney Studio and Disneyland in the 1950s/1960s.  We have identified the signatures of :

-Jack Rorex, Head of Construction for the Disney Studio who also worked on Disneyland.  The tunnel at Walt Disney's backyard railroad, the Carolwood Pacific, was named the Rorex Tunnel because it was his idea to tunnel under Mrs. Disney's flower garden instead of plowing through it.  Rorex is honored with his own window on Main Street at Disneyland.

-Joseph Kaba, artist/sculptor who worked on Pirates of the Caribbean.

-Earl Vilmer who built the Disneyland Railroad under Roger Broggie's supervision (and ran the Disneyland Railroad for many years after).

-Zenon Rucky, Disney Studio upholsterer.

The piece measures 20" x 16 overall and is in very fine condition.  On the back is the Disney Studio authenticity label identifying it as a print of John Hench's painting created for the 25th Anniversary of Mickey Mouse in 1953.  Signer Earl Vilmer started at Disney in 1955, so we know this piece dates from 1955 or later.  Walt Disney's autograph alone-- on Mickey Mouse artwork-- makes it worth the price, but you may have fun seeing if you can track down some of the other names and their contribution to the Disney Studio or Disneyland.  Item #  7462, $3495
