This is the actual WED Enterprises legal document which spells out the agreement to design, build and install the Disneyland-Alweg Monorail System in Disneyland-- Signed by Walt Disney as Chairman of the Board of WED.

Walt Disney has personally signed this WED Enterprises contract with Alwac International to bring the Alweg Monorail System to Disneyland.  WED Enterprises was the company now called Walt Disney Imagineering; W.E.D. being the initials of Walt Disney's name.  Likewise the Alweg moniker was created from it's inventor's name, Axel Lennart Wenner-Gren.  The Swedish born Dr. Wenner-Gren created his Alweg Monorail in Germany but licensed it to Walt Disney through his American computer corporation, Alwac (Alwac = Axel Leonard Wenner-Gren Automatic Computer).

This 7 page typed document is dated October 25, 1958 (click any page shown above for a better view).  Less than a year later- in June of 1959- the Disneyland-Alweg Monorail System was inaugurated at Disneyland.  It was an immediate success and Disneyland to this day has continuously upgraded the original Alweg concept.  The American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 1986 declared the Disneyland Monorail a NATIONAL HISTORIC MECHANICAL ENGINEERING LANDMARK.  This document, too, is a landmark in Disneyland history.

This historic document is a typed carbon on onion skin paper with Walt Disney's original signature on page 7 as Chairman of the Board of WED Enterprises, Inc. along with the original signature of Sixten Holmquist for Alwac International.  The pages are mildly toned and show mailing folds; two holes punched at upper margin; all pages stapled at upper margins.    A MUSEUM PIECE!  Includes the Phil Sears Collectibles Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.
