Disneyland Souvenir Booklet Autographed By Walt Disney

Few Walt Disney autographed items are more sought-after by collectors than those associated with Disneyland.  Items signed at Disneyland are rarer than you might think- Walt even politely refused to sign at Disneyland for (future) Disney Archivist Dave  Smith, back when Dave was a teenager!  If Walt felt a lot of other people were watching, he'd often beg-off, asking the fan to write to the Studio for an autograph, saying something like, "If I sign for you I'll have to sign for everybody."  But if you caught Walt at the right moment, you just might get a quick autograph.  Included is an email from the original recipient:

"In 1961** my grandmother came from Arizona to take us to Disneyland. We were standing near the old home of the future by the castle, when my grandmother saw Walt Disney.  She had a program book that they used to give out, and handed it to me and said, "Oh look there's Walt Disney. Take this book and have him sign it."  I said, "Oh I don't want to bother him," and my grandmother said, "Oh no go do it he'll sign it for you."  So I went over to where he was and asked if he could autograph my book. He said, "Oh I'll be happy to, but step around the corner here because I don't want to get stuck signing autographs. I'm here just to check on the construction of the new submarine ride." I was 16 at the time and I am now 76 and I had to book all that time. It has been one of my treasures, but I decided it was time to let someone else enjoy it."

** Phil Sears's note:  The owner remembered the year as 1961, but the booklet's date and construction of the Submarine Voyage dates this encounter with Walt Disney to 1958.

Walt Disney has autographed the cover right next to a color photo of himself!  And he has signed across Tinker Bell!  Especially nice is that this wonderful 1958 Disneyland souvenir booklet is not inscribed- does not read "To Bob" or "To Julie."   Measures approximately 11.75" x 8".  Soft cover.  The booklet is in very fine condition with minor soiling to front cover as shown, and one coffee-cup size stain to the back cover.  Includes the Phil Sears Collectibles Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity Item # 6978
