Rare Disneyland Walt Disney Letter A very rare letter Walt Disney letter on Disneyland letterhead discussing Disneyland's success during it's first full year of operation! In this January, 1957 letter Walt Disney writes to Disney executive Paul Pease (Studio Controller): "It gives me great pleasure to enclose your annual Gold Pass to Disneyland for the year 1957. Disneyland made great strides during 1956, it's first full year of operation. On Wednesday, October 3, 1956, the five-millionth guest passed through our gates and at years end, the total had risen to 5,683,835. On a single day in August, Disneyland visitors rode 197,547 individual rides. This was made possible by our major expansion program in the spring of 1956 which added a half dozen new and exciting attractions designed to maintain Disneyland's unique character and increase our ride capacity. Plans are now underway for more exciting adventures to be added for the summer of 1957. The coming year will also see the story of Disneyland
spread throughout the world with the release of the People
and Places film, "Disneyland,
U.S.A.,"
photographed in Technicolor and Cinemascope. It
is now showing throughout America and will be dubbed in seven different
languages for release throughout the free world. I
hope that you will be able to visit us often this year as Disneyland
continues to grow. On the occasion of your
visit, I would appreciate an advance call to my office or a call to the
office of Jack Sayers at the park, so that we can make special arrangements
for you." A letter full of terrific Disneyland
content, typed on blue and gold DISNEYLAND letterhead with Sleeping Beauty
castle image. Walt Disney has personally signed the letter in thick
blue fountain pen ink. Walt Disney letters on Disneyland letterhead
are EXTREMELY rare; Walt almost always used his simple "Walt Disney"
letterhead.
