Rare Mickey Mouse Artwork Autographed by Walt Disney! Several locations in Walt Disney's boyhood home of Marceline, Missouri bear paintings or murals of Disney characters accomplished by local resident H. C. Futrell. This is his original test model for the Mickey Mouse drawings he painted around town. During one of Walt Disney's return visits-- which took place in 1956 and 1960-- Walt Disney autographed this Mickey art for Futrelll. Includes an email from the former owner: ... My grandfather, H. C. Futrell painted the Disney characters on the wall of the lobby in the uptown theater in Marceline, MO, I believe around October of 1960 (I'm not 100% on this, but it makes sense in context of history and the story). He had reference pieces of all of the characters he was going to paint. Walt Disney came by while he was working and was delighted with the work and offered to sign one reference work for each of my grandfather's children... Marceline was home to Walt Disney's during his formulative years, and the town's main street directly inspired the design and nostalgic feeling of Main Street, U.S.A. in Disney theme parks. Disney spent a significant portion of his childhood on a farm near the town, an experience that shaped his imagination, and he maintained a deep affection for Marceline throughout his life. The town now houses the Walt Disney Hometown Museum, celebrating his connection to the community. Although closed now, Futrell's art still graces the lobby of the Uptown Theater.More than just an autograph, this piece represents the importance of Walt Disney's original "Main Street USA" hometown and his connection with his most famous character creation, Mickey Mouse.
