Walt Disney Autographed
Original "Song of the South" Artwork

An extremely rare piece of original art depicting
Br'er Rabbit and Br'er Bear, personally autographed by Walt Disney.  This watercolor art appears to have been created for a "Song of the South" children's book.  Walt Disney has boldly autographed it in brown crayon:

TO BOBBY HUTCHINS   BEST WISHES   WALT DISNEY

Song of the South is a 1946 Disney musical that combines live-action and animation, based on the Uncle Remus stories by Joel Chandler Harris. The film follows a boy who befriends Uncle Remus on a Georgia plantation and learns life lessons from animated tales of Br'er Rabbit. It features the Oscar-winning song "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" and actor James Baskett won an honorary Oscar for his role as Uncle Remus. Although the film was a commercial success, the movie is rarely shown in the U.S. due to sensitivity surrounding racial stereotypes and idealized portrayal of the post-Civil War South.

Walt has written and signed in his famous "Disney font" block writing.  This style of writing-- similar to the Walt Disney Company logo-- is more rare than his cursive signature.  It took longer to sign so items signed this way are more uncommon.

Watercolor on art board with a crayon signature.  Staining to margins hidden under mat (shows slightly in lower right corner- see photo).  Mat opening 11.75" x 8.75".  Matted to an overall size of approximately 13" x 16".   Includes the Phil Sears Collectibles Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.  Unframed.  Item # 7571, $7995
