 Rare Walt Disney Autographed
Disneyland Restaurant Placemat

Imagine having lunch at Disneyland's Pirate Ship Restaurant and spotting Walt Disney-- so you grab your Disneyland Hotel souvenir pencil and ask for an autograph-- and he signs this placemat for you!

Located in Fantasyland, the Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant was a Disneyland landmark from 1955 to 1982.  In 1969, after the brand dropped its sponsorship, the attraction was renamed Captain Hook's Galley.  The ship, along with its neighbor Skull Rock, was removed in 1982 for the New Fantasyland project, with the ship's spot now occupied by the Dumbo the Flying Elephant ride.

This very rare Walt Disney Disneyland autograph includes an email from renowned toy and pop culture expert Joel Magee, "America's Toy Scout" (of "Pawn Stars" and  "Collector's Call" TV show fame) stating he bought this:

" ... from the original owner that went to Disneyland with her mom and dad back in 1961. They were at the Chicken of the Sea pirate ship when she spotted Walt Disney and recognized him.  She grabbed a pencil that she got from the Disneyland hotel which is marked Disneyland hotel and her chicken of the sea paper place mat that was on her table and asked Walt if he could sign it.  He did and she even kept the pencil that Walt used to sign the place mat  all these years ..."

Amazingly, the original Disneyland Hotel pencil which Walt Disney used to sign this piece is included!  Also included is a snapshot of the Pirate Ship restaurant taken that day (both pieces shown above). 

Placemat measures 12" x 8" overall.  Large pencil signature is approximately 4" long.  Two verticle and one horizontal fold; stains as shown.  Includes the Phil Sears Collectibles Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity.  This rare Disneyland autograph comes from TWO longtime leaders in the collectibles field, Joel Magee and Phil Sears!
