The autographed Pinocchio print was given as ski race prize at the Sugar Bowl Ski area (above left).
The Sugar Bowl ski lodge is where Goofy learns to ski in Walt Disney's "The Art of Skiing" (1941)


Walt Disney Autographed Pinocchio

Truly a showpiece!  This beautiful framed Pinocchio print is boldly signed on the mat by Walt Disney.  Included is a handwritten note from a former owner:

""My uncle won this for skiiing at sugar bowl when he was a kid.  I was always told that it was an original signature..."

Walt Disney was an early investor in the Sugar Bowl Ski Resort near Lake Tahoe, California.  He was known to officiate children's ski competitions and give out personally signed prints like this as prizes.  To thank Walt Disney for his investment, the developer of the resort named one of the mountains in Walt's honor.  To this day locals can point out Mount Disney to visitors! 

Taped to the back of the frame is a small newspaper article which reads:

 Walt Disney Trophy Races Are Held
 Sugar Bowl – The Walt Disney trophy ski races for juniors under 12 years of age went down slalom courses on a mountain named after the sponsor. Warm snow on Mount Disney was to the liking of 30 boys and 29 girls with those under 10 years tested by a shorter run.

Mark Madrid, the original recipient of this Pinocchio print autographed by Walt Disney, is listed as one of the top placings for boys 10 and 11 years old.

Framed to an overall size of approximately 17" x 15.5".  Minor staining to left edge, otherwise very fine condition.  Includes the Phil Sears Collectibles Lifetime Guarantee of Authenticity Certificate.
